Yerba maté is a traditional South American infused herbal drink, rich in Natural Caffeine, iron and antioxidants.

Traditionally, yerba maté is enjoyed hot; the leaves are steeped in hot water, extracting a rich earthy flavour and the many nutrients found in the plant.

At Happy Capy we’ve used a less well known tradition by steeping the leaves in cold water, giving you a ready-to-drink maté that provides all the nutrients, flavour, and natural caffeine to give a nice lift to your day.

Yerba Maté origins,

Yerba maté contains vitamins: A, C, E, B1, B2, niacin (B3), B5 and B complex;

Essential minerals: calcium, manganese, iron, selenium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc.

Furthermore it also has carotene, fatty acids, chlorophyll, flavanols, polyphenols, inositol, trace minerals, antioxidants, tannins and many amino acids.

Yerba maté has been part of the Guaraní and Tupí peoples traditions for centuries, native to what is now northern Argentina, southern Brazil and neighbouring countries. In fact, it’s the national beverage of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. It is also very popular across the middle east where it was brought by immigrants returning from Paraguay and Argentina.

In Europe, Yerba Maté is popular in Poland, where it is consumed in a very similar way to South America: namely hot with a straw and gourd (Bombilla y Maté).

You can also find Yerba Maté as a cold soft drink across Germany, Denmark and other European countries.

Yerba Maté mates,

Happy Capy was dreamed up in London by a couple of long time friends, whose upbringing in the city instilled in them values of friendship, diversity and supportive community.

We found that Yerba Maté was the perfect metaphor and perfect drink to promote these values; a traditional South American drink ingrained in the culture of friendship, sharing stories and precious moments.

Community, sharing stories and celebrating creativity is at the heart of Happy Capy. We are only at the beginning of our journey, but we would love to share it with every person (and capybara) that wants to join us in building a diverse and inspired community of adventurers.
